Board Chairman Julie Rimes, Life Member inductee John Paton and CEO Drew Beswick at the AGM.
Held on 8 November at the Moonah Arts Centre, this was the first AGM for Oak Possability as a single organisation, following the decision to merge in July 2016.
Chairman, Dr Julie Rimes, reflected on progress since the merger.
“A year on, the benefits are clearly visible. We have greater ability to rise to the challenges of the ongoing transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme, our quality services are continuing to attract many new clients and Employees are enjoying more professional development and career opportunities,” she said.
OAK Possability CEO, Drew Beswick, was excited when speaking about the future of the organisation.
“We have greater capacity to deliver high quality services to our clients and supported employees. There are still many challenges ahead, but by working together I am confident we have a bright future,” he said.
Client guest speakers were a highlight of the evening. This year Charmain Hinchcliffe delivered the Consumer Representative’s Report and Dylan Wagner shared his story about starting his own business.
The organisation acknowledged several client achievements for their contributions to the organisation over the last financial year before four individuals were inducted as Life Members, a special occasion to celebrate. Congratulations to Merlene Bergmann, Jan Garity and Irene Sims, members of the Glenorchy Branch.
The Glenorchy branch was formed by parents in the late 1970’s and they have held countless fundraisers to contribute to the organisation over the last 4 decades with unwavering enthusiasm. All retiring members of the branch have been inducted as life members of the organisation.
John Paton was acknowledged for his contribution as CEO of OAK Tasmania from 2007-2016 and for leading the early months of the merger as Executive Chairman. John was presented with a life membership in recognition to his dedication to the organisation. Congratulations to all of our newest life members.
