“I have become more aware of what service providers are available not only for the Participants but also my family members,” says Michael.
Michael is a Support Professional from Southern Tasmania. Since joining Possability as a Support Professional over nine years ago, Michael has made it his mission to work to improve his skills so he do his best for clients.
He’s undertaken many training courses with the organisation in areas such as medication, health, First Aid, manual handling and more.
“The ongoing training allows me to be able to support clients at a high level,” said Michael.
He relishes the opportunity to build his skills has recently been appointed as a Site Supervisor at one of our supported accommodation sites.
“My biggest achievement is when Possability offered me the opportunity to complete my Certificate IV in Disability. This has benefited me greatly, and I feel that the people I support are more able to achieve their goals due to this additional training.”
Being a Support Professional brings different experiences every day.
“A typical day for me is very busy. I support clients with their personal care, scheduling and attending medical appointments, transporting to day support programs, active support in the community, completing finance checks and other administration,” Michael says.
Amid his busy days, a work and life balance is important to Michael.
“I appreciate the job security of my permanent position.
I enjoy doing home renovations and spending time with my family members, so having flexibility at work allows me to do this”.
Michael says that what makes his job great is the people he supports every day.
“Supporting clients, the rewards are being able to see them grow in developing their life skills and achieving their goals.
“I am so proud to be able to work for Possability.”
