Eleanor receives national recognition for opening her heart and home

It takes a special person to provide a home and family to vulnerable children in need. Possability’s Eleanor Kramer is one of those special people, and now her commitment to supporting children in foster care is being recognised.

It takes a special person to  provide a home and family to vulnerable children in need.

Possability’s Eleanor Kramer is one of those special people, and now her commitment to supporting children in foster care is being recognised.

Eleanor, along with her husband John have been selected as State winners in the 2015 Carer Awards in the Foster and Kinship Carer category.

Eleanor has been an Advanced Support Worker and the Launceston Leisure and Recreation Coordinator with Possability since 2013 – coincidentally the same year her work in foster care began.

With their three children all grown up and now with space to share, Eleanor and John decided to open their home and their hearts to foster children.

Over the past three years they supported three young people, playing an important role in their lives as foster carers and supporting their individual needs.

The national awards recognise and celebrate the 2.7 million unpaid carers and foster and kinship carers for the extraordinary contribution they make to the community.

Next week Eleanor and John head off to Sydney for the national finals and are in the running for the national award in the foster care category.

Congratulations Eleanor. Thank you for the contribution you make to Possability and our community. We wish you and John all the best at the National Carer Awards
