The event brought together clients, family members, community and sector leaders, and employees at the Baha’i Centre in Hobart.
Highlights of the evening included a presentation and performance by members of the OPAL Drama group, the Consumer Representatives Report and presentation of the inaugural Excellence Awards. Members of the three regional Client Dance Committees were among the recipients of the awards for their volunteer support in organising dances earlier this year.
CEO Glenn Campbell told the gathering that in the second year of the NDIS trial, Possability experienced a strong seven per cent growth in service provision. Much of this growth came from new services launched in 2014–15, including the Seven Mile Beach Respite Service and a new supported accommodation complex at Kingston.
Possability continued to focus on research and practice leadership to ensure that clients receive support that is person-centred, responsive, and is based on sound research and best practice.
“Our unwavering commitment to quality client services means that we must ensure our practices remain underpinned by demonstrable current evidence and research,” CEO Glenn Campbell said.
“We are continually working to improve our support practices by keeping abreast of national and international developments, and conducting our own research and evaluation.”
We have also worked to further strengthen the way we engage with clients and families, ensuring their voice is heard in everything we do from staff recruitment, to program development and tailoring of individual services.
Financially, we ended the year with a $374 000 surplus. This result will help strengthen our financial position as we transition fully to the NDIS.
At the AGM, David Mazengarb retired as Chairman after three years in the role, with the Deputy Chairman, Brian Scullin, stepping up to the leadership role. Possability extends our thanks to David and are grateful for his ongoing contribution as a Director on the Board.
