The Gearing Up Expo in Hobart was all about making connections and providing information to help people exercise their choice and control.
Possability is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the 2015 Gearing Up Expo. We were one of 73 different organisations to showcase their services under the one roof at Princes Wharf 1 at the Hobart Expo on Wednesday 2 September.
It was a great opportunity for families and users of disability support services to find out about the full range of services available in their local community.
At the Possability booth, we really appreciated the opportunity to talk to people about their needs and how we might be able to help them. We loved catching up with our current clients who popped in to say hello and we also spoke to many people interested in working with us.
With the full rollout of the National Disability Scheme beginning in less than a year, the opportunities and challenges presented by the Scheme were the hot topic of the day. Possability CEO, Glenn Campbell, participated in a panel discussion entitled, ‘Full Steam to Full Scheme (NDIS): Are we ready?’ ABC Local Radio’s Leon Compton facilitated an engaging and interesting discussion with the panel, which also included NDIS participant, Ross Kent; a parent, Sheree Hill and Laga Van Beek from the National Disability Insurance Agency.
Congratulations to Possability employees, Mathew Adams (Launceston) and Ben Crawn (Burnie), who have been selected as Workplace Ambassadors for the Gearing Up Expo. Mathew will be at the Launceston Expo and Ben at the Burnie Expo to talk to job seekers interesting in working in the disability sector.
Possability will be at the Launceston Expo, Tailrace Centre, on Wednesday 9 September and the Burnie Expo on Wednesday 16 September. If you live in these regions, please come along and say hello at the Possability booth.
